Our society has over the years built up a membership from many varied walks of
life, and ages. Our displays have been improved by having such a wealth of
experience and abilities. Members are expected to keep within the rules and
requirements of the society, rules developed to maintain our high standards
of safety and authenticity. Loans of equipment are offered to all new members
in order to make joining easier, although it is expected that members will
equip themselves with the appropriate kit and costume as soon as possible,
this is assisted by other society members who can give guidance and advice on
making all the kit required.
The Society keeps it's members in touch and up to date with events through the
use of telephone, e-mail, and the Society Newsletter, a monthly production
comprising news, reviews, personal articles, and events listings.
The society keeps the costs of being involved down by maintaining a set of group
equipment, such as shields, which through their nature are easily damaged and
thus need to be regularly replaced.
Anmod Dracan has maintained a reputation of safety and authenticity, this is
supported by a strict adherence to the rules and regulations concerning First
Aid and Public Liability Insurance in regard to displays.
Within the field of re-enactment there are a range of hazards, these are strictly
monitored to ensure that the appropriate training and safety values are applied
to protect both the Public and Society Members. Naturally in the area of Combat
Displays, It has been important to develop a set of mandatory rules in regard to
training in weapons use, the weapons themselves, and the participants.
To maintain our reputation for accuracy and reliability, the society has officers
responsible for the authenticity of equipment from clothing and personal equipment
to tools and weaponry, as well as researchers looking at the historical accuracy
of our presentation.
To keep the standards of authenticity high, the society encourages
individual research which can be published in the society newsletter.
